Back by popular demand, Australia’s premier sake aficionado Rey Takahashi, is returning to Bird’s Nest to tickle the taste buds of Brisbane’s sake lovers with four exclusive tasting workshops.  Following on from the success of our last sold out event, we’re inviting you to gather around our table as Rey guides us through an exquisite selection of boutique Japanese spirits accompanied by delicious nibbles from the Bird’s Nest kitchen.

Rey Takahashi

Drawing on his Japanese roots, Australian born Rey is the son of restaurateur turned business man Saka Takahashi, the brains behind the wildly successful Sakenet Australia. During his time abroad in China, Rey studied a broad range of interests including Kung Fu and Capoeira, but it was his passion for sake that led him to pursue a career as a Kura-Bito (sake maker).

For six months he honed his skills and passion at Hiokizakura before returning to Australian shores to share his wealth of knowledge. Happily installed in the family business, Rey now travels around the country educating a lucky few on the spirit that has become his life’s work.

For $59pp, put your palate to the test and indulge in a selection of rare and imported sakes paired with some delicious nibbles from the Bird’s Nest kitchen.
